Fall Schedule #TheCRLive – Boston

by Rachel Happe on August 19, 2009

We originally launched #TheCRLive lunches for a couple of reasons. It is partly an awareness building event that brings a wider circle of people into the discussions we have with The Community Roundtable members but it was also a replacement for the summer BBQs that we missed from Mzinga.  We thought we would try it out and see if it ‘stuck’.

Two months in, we feel like we are finally getting our rhythm and creating an exchange that people feel is valuable – please weigh in on this if you have been able to join us for one of our lunches.  We’ve had support from people like Jeff Cutler, Joselin Mane, Barbara Gavin, Carissa O’Brian, Gradon Tripp, Justin Whitaker, and many more who have participated, created content, and helped to spread the word.  We’ve had far flung discussions ranging from crisis management, to online identity, to online/offline events, to promotion, to managing difficult members – and a few random topics thrown in as well. We’ve also found that having public conversations supports our wider goal of furthering the conversation around community management – and it is extremely useful to get a wide range of perspectives.

So… we’ve decided to extend the run and expand some of our lunches to the 128 corridor.  This September and October we will try doing a lunch in Cambridge and then a lunch in Burlington – our hope is that more people can participate but let us know what you think.

We are also still looking for people who would like to help host these lunches in New York, San Francisco, Austin, or ?

Here is the schedule for the upcoming Boston area #TheCRLive:

We hope that if you are in Boston and are interested in community management, you’ll find the time to join us.

I attend the most recent lunch in Cambridge. I had followed a few threads from Twitter and blogs and found the Community Roundtable, saw the #crlive link and said, “hm..” I enjoyed it thoroughly. Not only did I meet a bunch of new people, I heard some really engaging conversations about privacy, the complexity of community management, the chaos of everybody trying to interview each other at blogcamp…

Many thanks to Rachel and Jim for establishing this — and finding a really round table to host it at.

    Hi Patti -

Thanks for coming to the lunch – it was great to meet you and I loved your comments about managing complexity… and kindergartens. I hope we see you again soon!

I’d be interested in helping to host a lunch in NYC. Please let me know how to get involved. @kaplowpr or @stephanies on Twitter. Thanks!
